Noa of Arc Rendering Contests!
Prepare your entry, upload it using the upload button in the Gallery tab and choose the category corresponding to the current round. See all details in the page How to submit.
NoA is a recursive acronym of "Noa of Arc" standing for Not Only An Opportunity For Another Rendering Challenge!
Typically the rounds will last 4 or 8 months, starting September 2018.
You may use any 3D rendering program(s) to make your images, and any associated programs such as 3D modellers and conversion/texture applications. You can propose as many interpretations of the subject for the current round as you want, but they must be very different in concept and idea.
Rating, voting or scoring (call it what you will) is a tricky subject at best in the computer world. There is no authoritative way of voting in a way that is completely fair to all. One can only hope that what is in place will work and that everyone is happy about it. Presently, each member or guest is invited to attribute a score simply from 1 to 20 points to all submitted pictures.
ALL members can vote and comment, whether they have entered a contest or not. However, please do so in an honest and sincere way, as we are sure you will. Your comments just might make a difference to the artist.
All members have an advisory voice in choosing the next topic for a contest. You can go to the Choose Topic page to vote for the topic you would like to see for the next contest. However, NoA has the final say about this choice.
A nice, 'clean' image depicting the topic and addressed to the general public. Any reference to sensitive subjects, such as nudity, drugs, violence, etc. has to remain extremely minimal, tasteful, and really conveys the topic, but is not typically allowed. We shall give examples when an image is legitimate, and any image submitted that leans in any other way at all will be removed.
The chosen title or single word topic is the basis for an artistic interpretation, either literally or metaphorically. If known by the participating member, even the content of the work may be interpreted. The resulting 3D-rendered image must convey that interpretation.
