About 10 years ago was born the marriage of Art and Technology.
The 10th Anniversary Traditional Gifts happen to be Tin and aluminum.
This entry is quite busy indeed, so the challenge for the viewer is to figure out how many
rounds are involved in this composition before reading the following:
From upper left corner:
- The tripod refers to both "War of the worlds" and "Metal monster" (the other tripod is for "History of Photography").
- Big Ben refers to both "Around the worlds in 80 days" and "British Airships", but also to "Clocks" and maybe "Time Machine"!
- just below is shown an elephant which could look like the Loch Ness monster, and this symbol alone can refer to both "Dinosaurs" and "Legends".
Then we follow Steve Paget in his journey:
- the stairway shows 11 stairs to represent the 11th year being just started.
- along the London Bridge, he will first come across the weight scales which refers to "Evidence as to Man's Place in Nature"
where the Apple of Eden is compared to the Theory of Evolution. This round was the very last one for Steve with his entry "Nomad".
- he sure did some nice WIPs for the "Dragons" round, but never submitted anything as shown on the right by the dragon and nests.
Finally from bottom left corner:
- a lantern referring to both "Japanese" and "Illuminated"
- the champion flag with a chess position referring to "Chess and Checkers: The Way to Mastership"
- flowers and corals refer to "Garden", and a natural beauty to "Woman" as well.
- the submarine is associated to "20,000 leagues under the sea", and the starfishes to the "Star" round.
To complete the picture, the butterfly refers both to "The Earth Trembled" because it cannot feel the ground shaking,
and also to "The Sphinx" because the eyes look like a giant owl (monster) in the night.
