TOPIC: Symmetry Round

20 Jul 2017 12:12

Glad to have got an entry into the last Short Challenge.

I have to admit 'Symmetry' left me a bit short of inspiration. I came up with the bridge lying in bed waiting for sleep one night. The idea of a huge bridge disappearing over the horizon, perhaps going on forever, just sends shivers through me, I don't know why.

But my problem wasn't drawing the bridge, I like bridges and in any case I'd already made this one, it's the title. My wife reckons "Atlantic Crossing" is totally ridiculous. Between us we came up with "Bridge To Eternity" but when I looked that up on Google so many people have drawn a "Bridge To Eternity" I was a bit put off.

Any help gratefully received!

Hi John,

Very nice bridge indeed, thanks to the sky and awesome water.

However, if you could manage to draw a reflection of the bridge, this would add yet another symmetry in the composition.

The spans are repeated, but not the texturing which usually looks odd. This is something I cannot do easily, when I duplicate an object, I repeat everything of it, including the textures.

I was a little worried of being alone once again up there, so thank you.

Well you can ignore this comment, as I kinda exploited this aspect from top to bottom (pun intended) with the Taj Mahal, a classic. There is a symmetry also from back to front.

I couldn't get a good reflection with the bridge, the sea was too rough. It works perfectly on your Taj Mahal though - 100% on topic.
