"I was not afraid to die, but to die without having been enlightened."
- Count of Saint-Germain, The Most Holy Trinisophia
There have been two major flags throughout German history, one was black, white, and red; the current one is rather black, red, and yellow. But whatever way we put it, the colours of the German flags happen to correspond to the Magnum Opus. It was the starting point of this work.
"The four alchemical stages are Nigredo (blackness) which represented putrefaction and spiritual death, Albedo (whiteness) which represents purification; thirdly Citrinitas (yellowness), the solar dawn or awakening, literally refers to "transmutation of silver into gold"; and finally Rubedo (redness) which can be interpreted as achieving enlightened consciousness, and total fusion of spirit and matter. The final stage signalled alchemical success, the end of the great work, and can be represented by a phoenix, or a rose."
It was possible to enrich the composition with the life of the Count of St-Germain who was both French and German. Another good reading is this one.
On the right, the final years of the "immortal" Count is symbolized by the Louisenlund Tower in which Saint-Germain was conducting his last alchemical experiments.
