Through glasses one can look more and more in the past. However this is not incompatible with the fact that we could see our own future. The universe is billions of years old, so it is possible to observe that one million years ago, there was a civilization as advanced as we could be in one million years.

On the other hand, standing in front of a mirror is also looking at the past, for everything we can see around our own reflection lies behind us.
